A South Carolina JewelComing from the Calvert Cliffs area, I was a little used to finding some nice teeth. The Cliffs even have a way of imparting rich colors into the enamel; but nothing would prepare me for this trip to the low country. In the time between my last trip down, and this one, my brother had spent his time showing off nicely colored, lightning streaked teeth that the Chandler Bridge formation had a habit of making. While I, on the other hand, feverishly (and a little jealously) looked closely at Google Earth for places to walk that looked unsuspecting... Thanksgiving finally produced the opportunity to get down to the low-country, and we went out; but this time we decided that we'd rather go exploring. I have plenty of teeth, having grown up near Castle Hayne, but when was the last time I went exploring with my brother in the woods? 5 minutes in, my brother found a vert... "We're in the right place..." and about 10 minutes later, I saw what could be nothing other than a tooth... The reflexive chanting began "oh my oh my oh my..." But nothing would prepare me for what I saw as I washed it off... A beautiful Angy, almost 2 and a half inches, beautiful garnet-blood red, with streaks that could have been only set by Odin himself. She is a mean thing to gaze upon. My brother walked away with two very nice teeth... But, I do not think I will ever top this... Even though I may certainly try! Over all, we came away with a very good haul for us, and had the opportunity to go exploring in the woods again for the first time in 25 years.
