" THE FORGOTTEN HUNTER STRIKES AGAIN"
“THE FORGOTTEN HUNTER STRIKES AGAIN”
Date: June 23, 2012
Location: Near Westmoreland
State park
Conditions: 90 degrees hot but not humid. Low tide and
fairly calm.
Well this time my girlfriend decided to come along to take
advantage of the weather and the opportunity to soak up the rays along a beach
I had been talking about for some time where I frequent often. We gathered a
few key essentials and tossed them in the pack, gassed up the four runner and
headed out to the geological sedimentary beds along the Potomac river (one
beach in particular). When we first arrived it did not take long for me to 1.
Throw my gear bag on the sand and head for the wash zone and 2. Notice that we
were the only ones on the beach. It also did not take long to discover my first
tooth. My girlfriend actually had a very impressive day. It was her 2nd
time out ever and she came back with 15 fossil shark and ray teeth. I noted the
fact that for the 2nd time out she was able to detect both ray and
shark teeth. Anyway, all together we came back with a container of teeth
totaling 100 for the day. Nothing real significant but I did manage to discover
a nice sand tiger tooth, and a few busted Hemi teeth that would have looked
really nice on display at my house had they been complete.
Anyway, I most always post under Surry, VA so
please check out some of my recent finds there including my first every meg
tooth! HAPPY HUNTING and you in the
wash!! ENJOY THE PICS!
