8/6/10Got to the beach early this morning to hit the low tide. We had a great storm the other day and I couldn't wait to get down by the banks to check out the newly exposed fossils. On the way to the beach I knew it was going to be a good day. Large trees were uprooted, power lines were down, and there was standing water in the fields. When I got to the beach the tide was LOW. The storm surge went all the way up to the cliffs. There was so much to look at, it made my eyes cross. I found my first tooth about two minutes in. A small tiger in great shape. "It's going to be a good day", I thought to myself. Then, I found a few ray plates. Bobin' down the beach singing "Paul Revere" by the Beasty Boys, time seemed to fly by. I hadn't realized that four hours had passed by. With a pocket full of teeth I decided to head back. I usually hit the water line down the beach and look high near the cliffs on the way back. I found the nice Makos about ten feet from each other, only the tops of the enamel shining through the sand. What a great find. Feeling content with my finds and thoroughly drained from lack of H2O and sleep, I went home with a smile and sunburn on my face. What a good day. I don't get out as much now-a-days so any beach time is a good time. Some of the teeth in this post are from the week before. They were in my cars ash tray , but i added them to the post and put them in the 2010 box. I'm due for a northern neck hunt and hopefully i will get out there soon. Looking forward to some cool weather and a couple of good storms.
Let it rain,
