First Trip Hunting South Carolina

I went to Summerville SC a couple of weeks ago with my dad and one of my fossil hunting friends. We spend two days in SC and had a very nice haul. We left at 6am and got there at 10:30 am. It was a long drive, but we talked about teeth to pass the time. First, we went to one of my friend's sites. It was probably the best site of the whole trip. I found my first angy there and I was pretty happy. I found a couple more surface collecting, but they were mostly broken. Next we went to another site and sifted there. We didn't find that much, but I did find half of a huge shark vert. Man, the color in the summerville creeks is amazing! Some of the best colored teeth are in SC. After that we went to another place where we could sift. It was located in Ladson SC. We obeyed the no toothing with tools law that was in place when we visited spots in Summerville SC. In the site located in Ladson SC, we found a couple of nice teeth, but we were really tired and decided to call it a day. The next day we went to the first site and we decided to surface collect some more. We tried to grab some of the gravel from the bottom of the deep parts in hopes of pulling up and angy, but we didn't. I also saw a huge partial whale vertebrae sitting on the bottom of the creek. Upon further examination, it was split in half, so I decided I would pick it up later since I still had a couple hours of hunting. I forgot about it later in the day and I ended up not taking it home. Always pick up everything you find right then and there! Don't miss out on fossils just because you don't want to carry them! After that site, we went home. On the way home we went to Harleyville SC to pick up some micro material. We each took a bucket and headed home. Overall, it was a great trip and I was glad I went because I found my first angustiden and I could spend my day with my fossil bud and my dad. I only found a couple of beat up teeth in the Harleyville SC material. I don't recommend getting any of the Harleyville SC material. Save the gas money. Overall, it was a great trip and I hope to go again soon!
