Low and high tideMy week started on Tuesday when I was able to take some time off from work and hit the beach. I got there early, but as Fat Boy mentioned in his post, others had the same idea. While I do love those rare days when I have the beach to myself, it's really nice to be out there with good people. Great to have met you FB. Anyway, I took my slow and steady approach and did pretty well. My Tuesday finds are the ones below the measuring tape in the picture. I got two small megs, one up on the beach and another out in the water (the water picture didn't turn out), a couple makos and a nice cow. I didn't realize it until I got home (and please correct me if I'm wrong), but I also found a nice pathological sand tiger. It was nice to finally get some megs as it had been quite a while since my last complete one.
Thursday I wasn't expecting to be able to get out, but my work schedule shifted and so I shot down to the beach. The tide was real high and it didn't go out all morning. The waves were so high I would probably not have come away with any teeth had I surface hunted. I found a small patch of open beach and raked there the whole time. I quickly found the big lower mako (cursed the missing root lobe), pretty hemi, and dolphin tooth. I didn't find anything else interesting until right before I left when I found a few teeth including the thresher, hammerhead, and a really nice upper cow. I'm glad I stayed those extra five minutes. Both trips ended up being pretty good ones. It was great to be able to get out for a bit both days, especially with nice weather like we had.

It was hard to show, but the blade twists fairly significantly at the tip. |
