A fine March day on the beachI got out to the beach yesterday and was the first car there (my first time ever having that happen). It was high tide and the tide was going to start dropping later in the morning so my strategy was to bust my butt to go as far as I can and pick up the easy teeth as I go but keeping an eye out everywhere for a nice big med or mako, then work my way back as the tide falls and be much more slow and methodical. My thinking was that as others arrived I'd be covering ground that has yet to be covered a second time. I wasn't a 1/4 way down the cliffs and I noticed someone coming behind me...I thought, wow...there are people as nutty as me! On my way back I ran into him and exchanged greetings at that time, and later ran into Bing and a couple other guys that I've seen on the beach before (David and Mako Mike), and the other guy that I met earlier who turned out to be Greg S on our forum. It was nice meeting you Greg! In my mind I'm thinking that I took a day off work to finally have some selfish time just for me and who woulda thunk that 4 other folks did the same thing! Don't y'all have jobs??? LOL Anyway, it was a beautiful day with perfect tides and lots of teeth, and at the end of the day I'm confident that between the 5 of us we cleaned the beach off pretty well (at least until the next set of tides). The highlight of my day was a really nice posterior meg, about 1.5" wide or maybe slightly larger (I haven't measured it).
OK, I admit it, Daryl's spectacular vid inspired me to chew up some of my leave (as well as Tony's and a few other posts) and I've been chomping at the bit to get out and collect again. DW and Daryl have also got that video thing going, so I was going to video all of my megs and makos for the day, but well, the makos were small and broken except for one nice retroflexis. I found a good many hemis and I must have found the great tiger shark burial ground! Pics of my finds are below. And, I did video my lil' meg:

I'm not much of a film producer, and obviously you'll see in the video that Daryl's tooth is the new standard to compare too!!!! I still can't get over that video.
Nice meeting all you out there and hope to see you again. I was wondering where Govinn was??? Bing, I'll be sending you an email so we can do some fishin' too. 1 available

The 'lil meg just layin' there. I saw the root and thought about that banana that turned out to be my big Otodus in July, so I bent over to check it out. It wasn't that big meg, but it turned out to be a meg, so I grabbed my camera, took a pic, then the vid. |

The rest was the usual stuff. I did find a chipped whale tooth, and a broken crown of a squaladon tooth that if whole would have been probably 4 or 5", a few thresher sharks, and a lot of hemi's and tigers, and a retroflexis. |
