A fine March day on the beach

I got out to the beach yesterday and was the first car there (my first time ever having that happen).  It was high tide and the tide was going to start dropping later in the morning so my strategy was to bust my butt to go as far as I can and pick up the easy teeth as I go but keeping an eye out everywhere for a nice big med or mako, then work my way back as the tide falls and be much more slow and methodical.  My thinking was that as others arrived I'd be covering ground that has yet to be covered a second time.  I wasn't a 1/4 way down the cliffs and I noticed someone coming behind me...I thought, wow...there are people as nutty as me!  On my way back I ran into him and exchanged greetings at that time, and later ran into Bing and a couple other guys that I've seen on the beach before (David and Mako Mike), and the other guy that I met earlier who turned out to be Greg S on our forum.  It was nice meeting you Greg!  In my mind I'm thinking that I took a day off work to finally have some selfish time just for me and who woulda thunk that 4 other folks did the same thing!  Don't y'all have jobs???  LOL  Anyway, it was a beautiful day with perfect tides and lots of teeth, and at the end of the day I'm confident that between the 5 of us we cleaned the beach off pretty well (at least until the next set of tides).  The highlight of my day was a really nice posterior meg, about 1.5" wide or maybe slightly larger (I haven't measured it).

OK, I admit it, Daryl's spectacular vid inspired me to chew up some of my leave (as well as Tony's and a few other posts) and I've been chomping at the bit to get out and collect again.  DW and Daryl have also got that video thing going, so I was going to video all of my megs and makos for the day, but well, the makos were small and broken except for one nice retroflexis.  I found a good many hemis and I must have found the great tiger shark burial ground!  Pics of my finds are below.  And, I did video my lil' meg:

I'm not much of a film producer, and obviously you'll see in the video that Daryl's tooth is the new standard to compare too!!!!  I still can't get over that video.

Nice meeting all you out there and hope to see you again.  I was wondering where Govinn was???    Bing, I'll be sending you an email so we can do some fishin' too.

The 'lil meg just layin' there. I saw the root and thought about that banana that turned out to be my big Otodus in July, so I bent over to check it out. It wasn't that big meg, but it turned out to be a meg, so I grabbed my camera, took a pic, then the vid.
Close up pic of 'lil Meg.
The rest was the usual stuff. I did find a chipped whale tooth, and a broken crown of a squaladon tooth that if whole would have been probably 4 or 5", a few thresher sharks, and a lot of hemi's and tigers, and a retroflexis.

Kevin, it was great meeting you out there! It's always nice to put faces to our internet names. Nice posterior! David had mentioned you had found a nice one but by the end there I was rushing off the beach to get back to work and forgot to ask to see it. I had a good day too, though not nearly as many teeth as you found, nice haul! I'll try to post mine later. Keep up the good work with the videos too. Content Quality : 10 of 10

Ok, so it's wasn't 3.5", but you got a really nice posterior in great shape. Just when I think we got all the tigers off that beach I see you got a bunch more. I love those things and never get tired of pickin' up the nice ones. I love the ground shot and video. Look at that assortment of stuff you got too! Content Quality : 10 of 10

I had a great time being off work, meeting some fellow collectors, gathering a wide variety of sharks teeth, and it was a heck of a lot better spending the day on the beach than being at work! My wife was jealous when I told her that I found a nice posterior at the beach!
