Homeward bound!!

This is my first trip post, so I'm going to try to give it my best. I've already completed an entire trip post (complete with pics and everything). I clicked "update" and my computer froze and wouldn't let me go back, so I lost everything.... GRRR!!

With that off my chest, I'll retype everything. Here it goes...

I'm working in NC right now and got invited back home to go on a fishing trip. I took it as a great opportunity to do some fossil hunting. Only one problem... I would be busy during the daylight hours, so if I wanted to find some teeth I had to do it with limited light. I walked along the beach at dusk with a flashlight hoping that the enamel of a tooth would catch a glimpse of the light from my flashlight. I got really lucky because on several occations that's exactly what happened. I celebrated by myself, with myself, for myself on a beach in the middle of the night... I now understand why my family thinks that I have completely lost my mind, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I spent Saturday fishing where I caught an 18 lb Rock Fish, but all I could think about was getting home to hit the beach again. I was exhausted, but I couldn't give up on my quest to find a great big MEG!!

Sunday was the day that I conducted my radioactivity test on various fossils (see my post on Uranium in the Forum for more info). I found a really nice 2" Mako while conducting my test. It made a wonderful end to great weekend. Just to top it off I grabbed several gallons of material to sift while I'm in NC to hold me over until I return to VA. FYI... I always return the shells/sand that I sift thru back to the beach minus the little treasures that I get to keep.

My find on 2-20-09 at night. To bad that the tip of my Hemi is broken. :(
My find on 2-21-09 at night.
My find on 2-22-09. The teeth to the right of the penny were found during my radioactivity test and all within 8" of each other.
My 2" Mako
This is where I found this little sucker hiding... but not for long! :)

I found them at Chippokes. You just have to walk slower than the average person...
