4 5/8" Megalodon shark toothThis is somewhat of a fluke meg. The day had nearly come to an end, and I hadn't found anything worthwhile yet. I stuck my shovel in the layer and just started working it. I ended up digging a trench 15 feet long, 18 inches wide, and 6 inches deep before I ran across this tooth, but it was just in time. I nearly quit digging just minutes before, but in my despiration, I kept going until the bitter end. But the end turned out to be not that bitter! This tooth has great color, root, and serrations. The tip is a little rounded, but who am I to complain?
