The Beginning of an Obsession. This trip is from May 2007. I had just gotten my Open Water cert. in Sept 06 and this was my 1st true dive. Venice, Florida, and I could not have had a better time. Great viz, and I also found a couple things. I'm sure every collector has that "1st find" that no matter the size or condition, is just Cool. I carry mine around in a Tupperware bowl trying to show anyone who will listen.----( Drives my wife nuts)
Anyways, about the dive, in 2, one hour dives I was able to find 2 Megs, a nice tympanic bulla, a couple nice Sand Tigers, Snaggletooth, and other bones and teeth. After the initial cleaning, I think I carried the two Megs around for 3 weeks before the excitment dulled. I am an addict. I can admit that now.
Before my trip in May I would go to work, come home, spend some time with my wife and my 2 year old son, then do it all over the next morning. Now all I do is read BRF posts, learn about teeth and fossils and plan new fossil trips. Fossil hunting is my caffeine, gotta get my fix..... This website is my support group and for that, I thank you.
I've got a few more trips from this summer I will post in the next few days.
