Day Two " The Mud Ball Pit "Day Two took us to a phosphate mine located in Polk county. The area we collected was called the mud ball pit, and thats exactly what it was. There is a constant flow of high pressure water with mud balls, rocks and of course fossils shooting out into the slurry field. Unfortunately all that tumbling breaks most of the teeth. I picked up an assortment of dolphin and dugong verts, a couple of three toed horse teeth and a bunch of broken megs. This pit has produced some nice teeth in the past but just like all hunting, timing is everything.
