awesome auriculatusI haven't posted anything for a while due to the fact that I have not been finding anything fantastic. Our usual collecting area hasn't been producing anything great,so about a week ago my father and I decided it was best to do some exploration and boy did it pay off!! The day started off pretty slow and at first we doubted that the new spot would be a productive one. It wasn't until I found a decent mako that we both realized that this new spot had potential. The material we were getting in our sifters seemed like the right stuff. Then it happened, I looked into my sifter and a saw a large triangular shape covered with dirt. I wiped some of the dirt off and saw the serrations and I completely flipped out! My dad said he thought I was going to faint, and I think I almost did. There it was in my hand a beautiful 2.5 inch auriculatus from New Jersey!!! and with awesome side cusps. After that I sat down and relaxed as my dad dug furiously trying to find one. After I finished drinking some water I decided to dig some more, but when I looked right next to my dad I found an auriculatus blade. Overall this one of my best if not my best New Jersey collecting day so far. I posted pics of a squalodon root which my dad found on a recent trip, and a peccary tusk I found on the same day that my dad found his squalodon root. I'm hoping my dad finds a nice tooth soon because he has been having quite a drought.
