black and blue(s)

I was able to return to my new spot this week for just a short while.  Did some more digging and sifting, and in the process got a wicked vertical cut right up the tip of one of my fingers from a sharp shell fragment - I need to use my rubber gloves but keep forgetting to throw them in the car.  If anyone knows of some awesome bandaid products let me know.  I always carry a couple of bandaids with the antibiotic stuff already in them, but they're good only if you stop putting your hands in the water.  My finger bled good for like 10 minutes before it stopped.  I hated putting it back in the water epsecially after the bandaid fell off within another 10 minutes.  Someone once suggested clear nail polish to immediately seal up a cut- ouch?

Anyway, from the pics below you can see I did ok and found a nice assortment of Palaeocene teeth: Sandtigers -> Striatolamia striata, Odontaspis winkleri, Striatolamia macrota, Brachycarcharias lerichei, Anomotodon novus (goblin), and a nice Otodus.  I was also pleasantly surprised to find a really large Crocodile vertebra, Croc tooth, and small Croc scute.  The Croc vert is really rare, at least for me.  I've only found three in over 12 years.

Oh yea, my title "black and blue".  Well, the teeth contune to have the nice blue hues, but, following suit after BRF member  "Down on the Banks", I figured I'd mention my mishap.  After finishing up collecting I was on my way walking back and needed to scale a bank with lots of fallen trees and their roots intertwining everywhere.  I thought I could pull a circus stunt and walk one of the roots like a tight rope, but fell , hit the dirt , fell again  and tried to brace my fall by putting out my hands as I hit the ground for the last time.  My left wrist took the brunt of my 215 lbs slamming into the large dirt boulders and rocks.  As fast as I landed I bounced right back up as if I was on a trampoline because I was really worried that I broke my wrist.  Well, turns out it's just bruised (maybe sprained) and really sore - but I can still type - ha ha!
