007 yields a tasty artifactI took a week off from fossil hunting, and I was ready to get dirty today. I went back to 007 because one simply does not abandon such a cherry spot after so few visits. This place continues to amaze me, and I am even more happy with it today because I found a way to drive really close to it. I am a lazy man at times. No, not lazy - I would just rather spend my time digging, thats it ;-) Anyway, today didn't turn up too much in the way of quality teeth, but as you can see, I didn't come home empty handed. The find of the day was quite a prize. Normally, I only find pottery diving, but today I found two large chunks buried in the sand. I glued them together and now I have the complete base. I'll bet there's more there, too. I found the chunks only a foot or two apart, and the bank goes back several feet unobstructed by large roots. It will take several hours to dig out the whole thing, so I think I know what I'll be doing next Friday! I'm so excited! I feel like a budding archaeoligist. I'll bet there are points to be found here, too. My mouth is watering with anticipation.
