The Bounty of the Rains

This post was from a few months ago when rivrdigr and son came up to hunt in SC. The day they arrived, they met me and my two boys out at the last good pond I was digging. Rivrdigr didn't meet me until about 2/3 of the say through the hunt, but before he got there we were digging with absolutely no luck. Between the 3 of us, we had only found about 10 teeth in about 2 hours. But then an unexpected midday rain storm unloaded on us. The bottom of the massive pond was dry after we arrived, and by the time the rain ended the water was 8 inches deep on one end. Time to stop digging and start walking around! It was about then that rivrdigr came along and he joined us in combing the fields for fossils. With fields huntable it only took us about an hour to hunt it all but I was in the right place at the right time. I found a complete megalodon with awesome color lying out completely unexposed. I only wish I had my camera. Then, I worked my way down to the other end of the pond and I scored a nice big white angustidens. It has a little wear but mostly its a superhero. Quite a productive day hunting!
