The groan heard around the world

The new pond out at the Golf Course still isn't finished, so I dug again in the unfinished edge. I ran across a few busted up teeth before I ran into my first nice find of the day. Its a nice little 3 5/16" megalodon tooth. I found a few more angustidens before it started getting dark, but I ran into a serious bone bed so I ran up to the truck to get my flashlight. I perched it up on the edge of the hole as I dug in anticipation of what could be there. Then I saw the root of a giant tooth. When I saw it in the ground I knew it was over 6 inches long before I even got it unearthed. Then, I saw the extensive peel on the front and my heart sunk. When I finally got it out and measured it, it topped out at 6 3/16" - Gigantic!!! Its great to find such a massive tooth, but its so sad that it is messed up. Lousy erosion... Next week, da f0ssZ and I journey to Aurora, NC. I hope I didn't use up all my good luck!

The back of that huge megalodon tooth - it looks great from this angle.
