What to do on a Lazy Summer Afternoon?Megamouth and I got tired of sitting around the house so we decided to go down to the local watering hole and see what the rains washed out earlier this week. This spot takes a while to clear up enough when we get a lot of rain and today the deeper parts were still murky, but the shallow areas were accessible for our racking purposes.
Although we found a bunch of teeth, very few were complete. There are a number of reasons why - because of the initial excavation, because the fossil bearing layer consists of sand and large pieces of gravel which served to grind the teeth nicely for eons, and because the county still drives a track hoe through the canal on a regular basis to keep it clean.
Regardless of all the fragmented teeth, we had a great time and we made a video of our trip. We hope you enjoy it.
