Return to Dutch Creek

Taking my Dutch friends hunting last week reminded me how good  fossil hunting in South Carolina really is. I can hunt whenever I want in an awesome location and its only a few minutes from my house. Yesterday I took my sifter and shovel down to Dutch creek for some exercise on a cool, beautiful, spring morning. The first spot I tried was next to where the weEzlinG scored his superhero angustidens last week, but apparently he worked the gravel there so I didn't find much. I moved about 10 feet further up the creek and started sifting a heavy gravel deposit. Within a few minutes I had my first decent sized angustidens. It was around 2 inches long and besides being a little worn, was a very nice tooth. Two baskets later, I found a choice smaller angustidens in phenomenal condition with a gorgeous pink hue. A basket malfunction ended the day after about 2 hours, but that's how long I intended to hunt anyway so I wasn't too disappointed.

Great hunt Kim! Being a former Dutchman myself, actually I still am, though living in Norway now, I really would like to visit that creek too one day! And I know my buddy Paul is thinking quite the same, hahaha. Content Quality : 10 of 10
