A Second Chance To Dig FirstJust around the corner from my house there has been a building boom. Back in 2005 when the first retention pond was dug, we had a really good hunt where I found my first and only purple megalodon tooth and my son found his largest meg still to this date! We were the only ones to dig that pond, and we only got one day because it was finished and filled up so quickly.
Luckily for us, another lot of land was cleared and a little pond went in right next to the one from a couple of years ago. It was tiny and we hunted it all in one day. To our surprise, the fossils we expected were not there. Its amazing how much the quality of the fossil layer varies in just a few meters sometimes.

In about 4 hours of digging, these are all the shark teeth I found. |
