Look Closely at Everything You Find!It was a big day at the river last Thursday. It was Scuba Paul's last day in town and RivrDigrFest was still in full swing. We all converged on the Edisto for a hunt of epic proportions. In all, there were 7 of us hunting and we didn't put a dent in the fossils remaining just in the tiny area that we hunted. Everyone had a decent amount of shark teeth at the end of the day, but the nicest one I saw was Scuba Paul's 2 1/2 inch angustidens.
I myself wasn't especially excited about my finds. Even though I found a lot, nothing stood out. The next day, as I was sorting my finds I noticed something that I didn't notice when I found it. It looked like a giant thresher, only it had side cusps. I picked it up immediately to examine it closer and confirmed my find. Make sure you click on the thumbnail so you can check this rare tooth out. I'll also talk more about it there. The point of this post was that I didn't notice it until over a day after I found it. It could have easily slipped through the cracks and escaped my attention if I wasn't in the habit of looking at everything I find.
