Cant Stay AwayI love diving and this time of year, there isn't a better way to beat the heat and the fossil jones. I hit the river today with t$. We decided to go to a spot that we haven't hunted in a few years. When we arrived, we found a pile of trees in place of the pile of teeth we were expecting.
Instead we moved back upriver to a more familiar area. I decided to move sand since we had already surface collected the area many times before. I fanned away one section just above the soft Ashley formation to reveal a gigantic root. I gently excavated the would-be killer in anticipation. Each cusp appeared, giving me goosebumps. Could it be?? I chanted the "Please Be Whole" mantra as best I could under water, but my please were ignored. The tooth had massive feeding damage to the tip.
Maybe next time the tooth will be whole. Its part of the thrill of the hunt!
