Yeah Baby! My 2 month old daughter woke me up at 3:30 this morning, and after finally getting her back to sleep, I couldn’t get back to sleep myself. Well, as long as I’m up, I may as well hit the beach! I got there before sunrise, about 6:15 am, and still wasn’t the first one there! It was about 4 hours before low tide, though, and I knew that teeth would be washing out with every wave, so I wasn't worried about the other hunter.
The fossil gods were definitely smiling this morning. I found a bunch of sweet Makos, including a black 1-7/8 lower, two uppers measuring 1-3/4 and 1-9/16, and a beautiful little posterior 7/8 inch Retroflexus. I also found an almost-white (it looks kinda orange in the photo) Mako with a wicked hooked blade, similar to I. Planus. Only one little Meg today, at 1-1/4 inches, which has a few little dings but great color and the most perfect bourlette of any of my Bay Megs. Hemipristis teeth were also abundant, even though most were beat up. Plus the usual assortment of small teeth.
Good Hunting!
