Slow on the bayThis post actually represents three trips to the bay!!
The first trip was about three weeks ago and was a complete bust. I did finally get a chance to meet Daryl, the Daryl from this site. This was cool, its always good getting some pointers from a bay veteran, but its not always good following this veteran down the beach...slim pickins!!
My last two trips were pretty poor as well. I did manage to get a couple of nice makos, snaggletooth, vertebra and one nice ray dermal scute. I also managed to find an angel shark tooth, which is pretty rare. You know its slow when I have to rifle through my micro teeth to find something to round out a post!!
One thing that was interesting was last Saturday I went fishing with my father. Some late season trolling for blues and the occasional Spanish mackerel was in store. I decided to troll south from Chesapeake beach. I was able to troll past almost every fossil outcropping along the bay. Its amazing how many people hit these cliffs on a Saturday morning. The first beach had over 15 people working the cliffs...not counting the first beach when you come in!! Every other spot had a minimum of 5 to 7 people!
I need a change of scenery with my fossil adventures. I have my e-mail request in with Curtis for a prized spot at the famous Lee Creek mine...wish me luck!!
Good hunting Chris
